Meet nine girls from nine countries in "Girl Rising" — a film about the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change a girl — and the world.

The movie tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery, and other heartbreaking injustices. Despite these obstacles, these brave girls offer hope and inspiration. Through education, they're able to break barriers and create change.

Event organized by the Center for International Studies, Western Washington University, in celebration of International Day of the Girl on October 11.

The showing of “Girl Rising” (101 minutes) will be followed by a discussion.

This film screening is free and open to the public.
